Alms Giving Ceremony Commemorates NIID Centenary Celebrations

As part of the 100th Anniversary Celebrations of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), an Alms Giving Ceremony was held on 6 July 2026 at the NIID premises, offering alms to 100 Venerable members of the Maha Sangha in commemoration of the institution’s centenary. The ceremony was made possible through the generous contributions and active participation of staff from all categories, reflecting the unity, compassion, and collective spirit that have been the foundation of NIID’s service over the past century.

The Alms Giving Ceremony served as a profound expression of gratitude for the blessings received throughout NIID’s 100-year journey and an opportunity to seek continued guidance and protection for the institution, its staff, patients, and the nation. By bringing together the entire NIID family in a shared act of generosity and merit, the event symbolized the institution’s enduring values of compassion, service, and unity, while reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the health of the people of Sri Lanka for generations to come.
