Hospital statistics are collected to be entered daily in the Indoor Morbidity and Mortality Register by the statistical unit. This is the main patient data collection system of government hospitals in Sri Lanka. These data are analyzed and sent to the Health Ministry summarised in quarterly returns. Hospital documents especially bed head tickets are legal documents. The discharged patients” BHTs and other records are kept safely under lock and key in the record room.
